Features
Original V Steel is made from good quality
Swedish ores, and its chemical component
and structure is most suitable for cutting
blades, and the body is well wrought. V-Toku1,
and V-Toku2 are excellent cutting alloy steels.
They share the basic features of V Steel
Series.
- Contain fewer impurities.
- Heat treatment is easy to apply to.
- Have better ductility
- Show better workability (fire forging, forgeability)
As for the adjustment of component, hard
and fine carbides are formed in the substrate
by adding Cr, W, and V(vanadium), and the
durability increases. Addition of W (tungsten)
brings about high toughness and high strength
at elevated temperature. These effects are
even more enhanced especially with the addition
of Cr(chrome).
Easiness of quenching and improvement of
annealing seem to be incompatible, but added
Mn and Cr at the precise amount, elicit both
full effects. The adjustment of V-Toku 1
and V-Toku 2 is given by the process of hot
rolling forging and quenching afterward (spheroidizing
by constant temperature quenching).
* Constant temperature quenching is;
Keeping the temperature of the part of the
blade which is relevant to S curve, so that
the spherodizing proceed continuously in
a short time.
